Burning Desires Poetry Performance
Burning Desires: An Afternoon of Love Poetry is gearing up to take the stage and deliver hot performances for the 19th year on Sunday, Feb. 13, 12-3 pm at MICA Gallery, located at 1210 Turner Street, in Lansing’s Old Town.
Burning Desires has been bringing together some of mid-Michigan’s finest poets and performers since 1992. Once again, they’ll be turning up the heat on St. Valentine’s Day weekend in Lansing.
Performers this year include Sam Mills, Adrienne Lewis, Tiya Kunaiyi, Kate Butler, Suzanne Frank, Fred Englegau and Joyce Benvenuto.
“I think one reason people will enjoy coming is they don’t have to worry about the poets and performers carrying on—they’re all quite talented,” said Sam Mills, the emcee d’amour.
“This event is all about love and is occasionally erotic. I’m also working on some surprise performances for this year. The only way to find out what they are is to show up.”
Donations are requested of attendees to support the work of MICA Gallery and its parent organization, Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art.
