August-September: 40 Festival Artworks

MICA has a long history as a festival producer (including Lansing JazzFest, Old Town BluesFest and Michigan Mosaic Music Festival). We’ve emphasized the use of quality fine artwork in posters and other promotional materials throughout the decades.

In honor of festival season, MICA Gallery is hosting a show of festival posters throughout history, featuring nearly all the posters ever used by MICA’s festivals, as well as some of the original art. Join us August 3-September 24 and enjoy this retrospective of festival fine art.

Artists featured include Brian Bishop, Melissa Calanchi, Louise A. Church, Dario Corsi, Andy Doerr, Barbara Hranilovich, Ken Keirns, Steven Kovar, Kirby Milton, Barbara Morris, Joe Oberlin, Dennis Preston, Theresa Rosado, David Sherer, C. Song, Bruce Thayer, Terry Terry, Tim Whalen, Chuck Wilhelm and Qinge Wu.

Broad Old Town Show: Resituating

Kristin Cammermeyer: Resituating, a special free exhibition of the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University, will be open to the public from June 22 to July 22. The exhibition will be housed in the Broad MSU’s Summer Annex, located at 226 East Grand River Avenue in Lansing’s Old Town neighborhood.

Kristin Cammermeyer has moved away from the use of traditional and highly valued materials typical of painting and sculpture. Her objects are made from the stuff of urban construction: shards of found and bought plywood and two-by-fours, garish industrial paint, spray foam insulation, and staples, all now resituated into the structure of her artworks. Read more in the Lansing City Pulse.

Exhibition hours are 12-9 pm Thursdays and 12-6 pm Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Enjoy the opening reception Thursday, June 21, 6-8 pm (free, registration required).
