Dance in the Gallery

The performers of DANCE Lansing: A Community Dance Project perform monthly at MICA Gallery. After the performance there will be an open discussion with the dancers and choreographers.

Dance Lansing is a collaboration with goals of building a diverse community of dancers to enrich the creative performance and development opportunities for area choreographers and dancers, and to increase audience appreciation and understanding of modern and contemporary dance. The foundation of this collaboration is a partnership of Happendance, Lansing Community College Performing Arts, Fusion Dance Center, Greater Lansing Ballet Company, MSU Orchesis Dance and MICA.

This family friendly event is free & open to the public.

Provided with funding support from Downtown Lansing, Inc., the City of Lansing, the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Pop-Up Stories with WKAR: Change of Heart

We can all be a little stuck in our ways sometimes.

Which makes it pretty memorable when something manages to change our mind.

Maybe you went on an adventure that totally changed your worldview.

Or maybe you met someone who convinced you to reconsider what you thought you believed.

If so, we want to hear about it!

Come share your story about having a “change of heart” at the first Pop-Up Stories of the year! Prepare a five-minute story about a time your life made a U-turn or you were convinced to switch sides on an issue.

Current State host Mark Bashore will be hosting the event at the MICA gallery in Old Town. We’ll have light refreshments and a great line-up of storytellers.

If want to sign up to tell a story or have questions about the project, please email April Van Buren at avanburen@wkar.org.
